This is a class project and I want the students to be involved with the end result. Students should be learning as they create their trading cards as well as they play the final game. The game should not be overly technical but should still be fun for players of all skill levels. As of 10.14.14, the rules are as follows:
1. The dealer will place down three decks: The Time Period Deck, the People Deck, and the Power Cards Deck. 2. Each player, in a game of two, will be dealt 7 cards. The players will be given 4 people cards and 3 power cards. 3. The dealer will lay down a time period card for each round. Each player must then place down a people card that corresponds with that time period. If they choose, they may also place down a power card to complement their people card. The total of points for the cards played will go against the total of points played for the cards played by the opponent. Whoever wins the round, wins all the cards for that round and places those cards in a separate pile with their winnings. The objective is to win the most amount of cards or points (both players decide at the beginning of the game). 4. If you do not have a people card that goes with the corresponding time period then the people card you play is only worth half the points on the people card played. The power card points do not matter and you can play them in any time period. 5. If you play a power card with the people card for the person actually responsible for the event/invention/innovation on the power card then the power card counts for double the amount of points on the power card. 6. After each round, each player draws again to get back to 4 people cards and 3 power cards for their hand of cards. 2nd Block has a new class project due on 10.28.14 titled "Amerikon: The Gathering". Each student has assigned topics that they are responsible for researching and creating trading cards on that the class will use in a Pokemon or Magic the Gathering style game. The project requirements are embedded below. |
